SUMMARY:Modernising Nuclear Instrumentation - Indigenous Efforts
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: V.B.Chandratre\nBhabha Atomic Research Centre\nElectro
 nics Division\nTrombay\nMumbai 400085\n\nAbstract: \nThe strategic electro
nics and High energy physics has been mainly the driving force for moderni
zing the nuclear instrumentation. There is a need for indigenous effort to
catch up with advancement for obvious reasons. The department of atomic e
nergy augmented a comprehensive programme that envisages grand plan of Si
licon to Chip \, an indigenous effort. The microelectronics activity is on
e such undertaken with perspective of manufacturing with ECIL Ltd. This w
ould require planned R&D in material science\, microelectronics and buildi
ng core strengths in the respective areas along with required infrastructu
re.\n\nThis talk will cover specifically the efforts undertaken for design
\, development of silicon sensors and the Application Specific Integrated
Circuits (ASICs) for applications in nuclear instrumentation. I will discu
ss the indigenous development of Silicon strip detectors\, silicon drift d
 etectors\, silicon photodiodes\, silicon Avalanche photodiodes\, Silicon P
hotomultiplier and its readout front end electronics ASICs developed: Ind
iplex (Anusanskar) \, Singleplex \, Anushikhar \, Anupravah \, Anuspar
sh \, Anusmriti \, Anuroop etc. The talk will also discuss our on going
work for INO Front-end electronics schemes and Microelectronics facilitie
 s at ECIL's Centre for Micro-Electronics.\n
