SUMMARY:Algebraic Independence Testing Over Characteristic Zero Fields
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Prerona Chatterjee\n\nAbstract: \nA set of polynomial
s is said to be algebraically independent if there is no non-zero combinat
ion of them which is zero. Testing whether a given set of polynomials is a
lgebraically independent efficiently is open in general. However\, when th
e underlying field has characteristic zero\, the Jacobian criterion reduce
s algebraic independence testing to linear independence testing. This lead
 s to a randomized poly-time algorithm in this case.\n\nIn this talk\, we w
ill look at the Jacobian Criterion and if time permits\, see its connectio
n to the Polynomial Identity Testing question in Algebraic Circuits.\n
