As part of the Homi Bhabha Centenary Celebrations we are planning to have a school and a workshop on Stochastic Methods: Analysis and Algorithms at TIFR from September 2 to 5, 2009. .

Short Courses

The first three days (Sep 2-4) we will have three short courses (each of five hour duration) conducted by:

  • Venkat Anantharam, Professor, UC Berkeley
    Topic: Information Theory
  • Soren Asmussen, Professor of Applied Probability, Aarhus University
    Topic: Risk and Dependence
  • Peter W Glynn, Thomas W. Ford Professor, Stanford University:
    Topic: Introduction to SDEs: Numerics, Statistics, and Control

The lectures would be aimed at doctoral students and will assume a basic mathematical background.


On September 5, we will have research seminars by the above visitors as well as the following speakers
