Siddharth Bhandari receives the ISIT Student Paper Award

The following paper co-authored by Siddharth Bhandari,  graduate student at STCS, received the IEEE Jack Keil Wolf ISIT Student Paper Award at ISIT 2018.

Anand Deo win best paper award at CRISIL Doctoral Symposium 2017

Anand Deo, a graduate student at the School of Technology and Computer
Science has won the best paper award at the CRISIL Doctoral Symposium 2017,
held at IIM Bangalore, for the paper titled "Calibration of Credit Default
Probabilities in Discrete Default Intensity and Logit Models", co-authored
with Prof. Sandeep Juneja.

Palash and Swagato win ACM India Doctoral Dissertation Awards

Palash Dey, a visiting fellow at the School of Technology and Computer Science, has been awarded the ACM India Doctoral Dissertation Award for 2017, for his thesis entitled "Resolving the Complexity of Some Fundamental Problems in Computational Social Choice", under the supervision of Professors Y Narahari and Arnab Bhattacharyya at the Indian Institute of Science.
Swagato Sanyal, a former graduate student at the School of Technology and Computer Science and currently a post-doctorate researcher at the Center of Quantum Technologies, Singapore, has been have been selected for an Honourable Mention under the ACM India Doctoral Dissertation Award 2017, for his thesis entitled "Complexity Measures of Boolean Functions: Fourier Sparsity, Fourier Dimension and Query Complexity", under the supervision of Prof Prahladh Harsha.

The ACM India Doctoral Dissertation Award was established in 2011.
This award recognizes the best doctoral dissertation from a degree-awarding institution based in India for each academic year, running from August 1 of one year to July 31 of the following year.

Dr. Ramprasad Saptharishi joins the School of Technology and Computer Science as a Reader. Ramprasad's research interests include Arithmetic complexity, pseudorandomness and derandomization. Ramprasad obtained his PhD from Chennai Mathematical Institute and was a postdoc at Microsoft India and Tel Aviv University before joining us at TIFR.

Dr. Umang Bhaskar joins the School of Technology and Computer Science as a Reader. Umang's research interests include Algorithmic game theory, approximation algorithms and online algorithms. Umang obtained his PhD from Dartmouth University and was a postdoc in the Center for Mathematics of Information at Caltech prior to joining TIFR.

Ashutosh Gupta wins EASST best paper award.

Dr. Ashutosh Gupta's paper "Model Checking Gene Regulatory Networks,
TACAS 2015" co-authored with M. Giacobbe, C. Guet, T. Henzinger, T.
Paixao, and T. Petrov received the ETAPS EASST best paper award for
2015. Granted by the European Association of Software Science and
Technology (EASST) at this year’s European Joint Conferences on Theory
and Practice of Software (ETAPS) at Queen Mary University of London ,
the award went to Mirco Giacobbe, Calin Guet, Thomas Henzinger,
Ashutosh Gupta, Tiago Paixao, and Tatjana Petrov for their excellent
paper on “Model checking gene regulatory network”. EASST is a European
non-profit association that aims at promoting research, development
and applications in the area of systematic and rigorous engineering of
software and systems.
