Reaching here

From Chhatrapati Shivaji International or Domestic Airport

Airport terminals are located at Sahar, east of the suburb of Andheri. It takes about 60-120 minutes (depending on rush hour) by road to reach TIFR. Transport facilities from airports:

Pre-paid taxis

One is Mumbai's famous "black and yellow" cab and other is "Cool cab". There is a counter just inside the arrival hall. Specify your destination as "Navy Nagar". The rates are posted prominently behind the counter. You will be given a receipt for your payment. Retain this till the end of your ride; then hand it over to the taxi driver. At the exit from the airport, the police may want to look at this slip.

Meter taxis

There are two kinds of meter taxis. These are private AC-cooled luxury meter taxis like Meru Taxis (022-4422-4422), Mega Cabs (022-4242-4242) or Easy Cabs (022-4343-4343). There is a free phone counter inside the arrival hall to book these cabs.

Once you reach Navy Nagar, it is easy to find TIFR. It lies at the far end of Homi Bhabha Road (one of Navy Nagar's principal roads), beyond the Navy Nagar bus terminus, on the left side. Most passersby on the street will know where it is, but remember that it is commonly referred to as "TIFR" rather than "Tata Institute".
