Best publication award for Karthyek Murthy

Our former student Karthyek Murthy, currently a faculty at SUTD, along with his co-authors, received the bi-yearly Best Publication Award from INFORMS Applied Probability Society for the year 2023.

This is amongst the highest awards given by the community. Karthyek did this beautiful work in his post-doc with Jose Blanchet. The work is regarded as path breaking and has given a direction that many researchers in the community are now pursuing.

STCS welcomes Raghuvansh Saxena

Raghuvansh Saxena joins the School of Technology and Computer Science as a Reader.
Raghuvansh's research interests include several areas of computing, such as interactive coding, streaming algorithms, and electronic markets. Many of his works are driven by his search for `efficient’ and `practical’ solutions to modern day problems. He did his PhD from Princeton University (2021) and his Bachelors from IIT Delhi (2016). He has since worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Microsoft Research, New England before joining TIFR.

Siddharth Bhandari wins ACM India 2022 Doctoral Dissertation Award

Siddharth Sandipkumar Bhandari is the recipient of the ACM India 2022 Doctoral Dissertation Award for his dissertation titled “Exact Sampling and List Decoding” that develops new techniques and tools in sampling graph colourings and contributes to improved analyses for understanding list-decodability of codes. Siddharth’s doctoral dissertation work was done under the supervision of Prahladh Harsha.

Kumar Saurav's Infocom 2021 paper presentation

Kumar Saurav, a graduate student at the School of Technology and Computer Science has been invited by ACM-India's Academic Research and Careers for Students (ARCS) 2023 to present his Infocom 2021 paper "Minimizing the Sum of Age of Information and Transmission Cost under Stochastic Arrival Model". ARCS is an annual symposium organized by ACM India where research scholars of Computer Science and allied areas in India are invited to showcase their recent (accepted) work.

STCS welcomes Mrinal Kumar

Mrinal Kumar joins the School of Technology and Computer Science as a Reader.
Mrinal's research interests include Computational Complexity, Algebraic Complexity, Algebra & Computation and Error Correcting Codes. Mrinal obtained his PhD from Rutgers University. He then spent a few years as a postdoctoral researcher at Simons, Univ of Toronto and Harvard University and as an assistant professor at IIT Bombay before joining us at TIFR.
